Helping you find relief from burnout through connection with your beloved pets.
My journey to becoming an animal communicator began in 2022, a year that forever changed me through profound loss. I had worked closely with a wonderful friend and animal communicator, but I never considered the possibility of doing intuitive work myself.
Then, between April and November, my world unraveled. I said goodbye to three of my beloved cats and three rescue fosters, each loss compounding on those that came before it. The grief was relentless, and I felt as though everything I dared to love was slipping away. Overwhelmed and emotionally shut down, I withdrew from the world, barely recognizing the person I had become.
Meet Corey (they/them)
Three of my 2022 Rainbow Bridge kitties were just one year old. Within four weeks, they tragically passed due to sudden-onset illnesses. The common thread linking their deaths was heartbreaking: fluid in their chests prevented them from breathing. They were drowning in their own bodies.
Through animal communication, I began to see the deeper meaning behind these losses: I, too, was drowning—though not in a physical sense. Trapped in an abusive marriage, I had lost my voice. I was merely trying to survive.
I found the clarity and strength to leave that marriage and start piecing my life together in September 2022. Six weeks later, my beloved heart cat, Seed, also crossed the Rainbow Bridge.
Losing my closest companion for 17 years left me utterly shattered. I didn’t know who I was anymore. The overwhelming grief and soul-crushing devastation colored everything, leaving me angry at the world and myself. My home felt unbearably empty, joy seemed unreachable, and I was desperate for answers.
While numbly scrolling through my social media feed, I stumbled across a video from Danielle MacKinnon discussing pet loss grief and her work as an Animal Communicator. I only made it through a few seconds before scrolling away, trying to avoid the lump rising in my throat. No matter how many videos I watched, I felt an inexplicable pull to return to Danielle’s. I didn’t realize then that my soul kitty, Seed, was gently guiding me toward this new path, giving me the loving nudge I so desperately needed.
You’ve found your way here, too, and I believe there’s a reason for that. Something—or someone—has brought you to this moment. Welcome! I am so honored to share this journey with you, helping you find relief from burnout and chronic overwhelm by deepening your connection with your beloved animal companions.
Get to Know Corey (Fun Fact Edition)!
What is something you are passionate about?
Animal welfare and human rights! My first job after college was with a large rescue in the Pittsburgh area. I have also worked with multiple small cat rescues.
As a queer, non-binary, and neurodivergent person, I believe that human rights are fundamental and we should all walk in love. I am committed to holding a safe space for you and your family to hear from your animals.
What are your hobbies?
Does being a Swiftie count as a hobby? I have loved Taylor Swift since her debut album in 2006. I remember scream-singing “Teardrops On My Guitar” and “Stay Beautiful” in the car driving home from school in middle school.
I went to the Eras Tour on Pittsburgh Night 2 and Toronto Night 2. I also saw the 2018 reputation tour in Pittsburgh. These are some of my most cherished memories!
Where did you go to college?
I received my Bachelor of Philosophy degree from the University of Pittsburgh Honors College in Communication Rhetoric, Sociology, and Gender and Sexuality studies. I wrote my thesis on transgender healthcare, finding ways to bridge gaps in care to reduce disproportionate health outcomes for transgender patients.
I loved Pitt and chose to return for graduate school. I’m graduating in April 2025 from the Master of Business Administration program with credentials in Finance, Marketing Analytics, and Organizational Leadership.
What is something you are curious to learn more about?
I stumbled into a sound healing rabbit hole in November 2024, and have been hooked since. I got my first set of sound bowls and have been learning how to play them (while trying to keep my cats a safe distance away!) I can’t wait to learn more about the benefits and practice of sound healing and reiki. I hope to offer them as services in the future.
What is your favorite season?
Much like the delightful Bernese Mountain Dogs I grew up with, my favorite season is winter! Fall is a close second, but nothing beats the feeling of stillness in the world after a fresh snow.
What did you want to be when you grew up?
As long as I can remember, I wanted to be a veterinarian. I’ve always loved animals and wanted to help them (and their people!) As I began taking natural science and math classes, I realized that the medical doctor route was not for me.
I adore the veterinarians and technicians who lovingly treat my gaggle of special-needs kitties. I have so much respect for the folks working in veterinary medicine, and a little bit of compassion and kindness toward your vet staff goes a long way.
